What is Benjamin Preschool's hiring
& staff selection process like?
The hiring method for our faculty is an ongoing process starting early in January of each year and ending in June. It is a requirement that the applicant:
- Has a minimum of 2 years of experience working in the educational sector
- Has a background education in the preschool pedagogy area; a bachelor and / or master degrees are preferred.
- Is certified in the English language (we accept many certification standards)
During our selection process we closely monitor for several criteria. We look for love, passion, and patience in terms of working with children. A candidate can apply by sending his resume to office@preschool.sk and providing a letter of intent within the message of the email. If a candidate is invited for an interview he / she will have to go through several stages of our hiring process.
First, the candidate will have a 45-60 min interview. If the candidate passes on to the next round then he / she will be invited to teach at our facility for a week so that he can become familiar with our educational system (this is a well renowned educational methodology that comes from both the US & Slovak educational practices). We closely monitor the candidate’s behavior and work during this initial week. We stress the importance of the candidate having to follow several Montessori principles. We also closely observe how the candidate deals with conflicting situations and how he / she assimilates into the Benjamin Preschool culture. Something to keep in mind is that our facility has open doors to the parents of the children and they do have the option to participate actively / passively. It is very important that the candidate comes prepared for this initial week. What should he / she prepare? For now, we will leave that to the candidate’s creativity but a small hint: include activities for different age groups.
If and when the candidate passes this initial week he becomes a teacher assistant for one month in one of our 3 facilities. This month serves as a trial period for us to observe whether the candidate is actively engaged and comfortable with our methodology. If the candidate successfully completes this one month trial period he is accepted to Benjamin as a full time employee.
Yes, we know, our selection process is strenuous but it is extremely important to find the right alignment for Benjamin’s students. At Benjamin we love our children and they are the #1 priority.

HEAD TEACHER Kindergarten

Key Requirements:

HEAD TEACHER Preschool
The assistant teacher has a very similar, if not the same, role as all our head teachers do. The assistant teacher is there to fully support his/her assigned head teacher at any time. This role is a great development role and a path towards becoming a head teacher.
