This May, our tiniest stars—our 2- and 3-year-old students—touched hearts and brought joyful tears to many eyes with their sweet Mother's Day performances. With songs, hand-made gifts, and shy but proud smiles, the children celebrated the amazing mothers and caregivers in their lives. From twirling ribbon dances to singing simple, heartfelt songs, each moment was filled with love, laughter, and just the right amount of preschool charm.
Performances like these are more than just adorable moments—they’re also powerful learning experiences. For children this age, participating in group events builds social-emotional skills such as cooperation, confidence, and self-expression. Standing in front of a familiar audience and following simple directions helps children learn focus and develop early communication abilities. Most importantly, they begin to understand the joy of shared experiences and the value of celebrating others—especially the ones they love most.
We were so proud to see our little ones grow in confidence as they stood before their families and expressed their appreciation in their own unique ways. Whether it was a giggle, a wave from the stage, or a spontaneous hug, every child’s presence made the event unforgettable. Thank you to all the families who joined us and helped make the day so special—we loved celebrating the important role you play in our students’ lives!

Spring and rainy season is usually good time to talk with children about water and its importance on our everyday ́s life. Where does water and the rain come from? The children like to ask questions about the
world around them and the best way to learn is by doing experiments. They offer a visual
way to explore concepts of science.
During our course of learning about the water and water cycle we prepared the „Rain in a
Jar“ experiment which was a fun and simple way to demonstrate how clouds form in the
atmosphere and produce rain using just basic materials:
-a clear cup
- water
-shaving cream
- blue food coloring
We filled the jar with water then made a cloud by spraying a layer of shaving cream on top
of the water. Slowly we dropped the colored water onto the shaving cream and just watched
what would happen.
As the „rain“ started to fall it was just a blast watching children ́s amazement. They just
wanted to make it rain over and over again.

We are delighted to share that Bunny class recently engaged in a creative art project inspired by the renowned artist Gustav Klimt. The children explored Klimt's distinctive style by observing his art pieces. They then crafted their own masterpieces using various techniques and materials. Starting with a coffee base, they drew objects with crayons, added color with tempera paint, and embellished their work with glitter, emulating Klimt's iconic golden touch. This enriching activity allowed our young artists to express themselves and learn about art history in a fun and engaging way

Children naturally love the moon, stars, sun and planets. The moon and twinkling stars in the sky fascinate both younger and older children, who naturally begin to ask questions about the solar system. This curiosity of learning about the solar system helps children to gain a greater understanding of the planets, including their home planet, Earth. Knowing why the planet, Earth, is unique, valuable and fragile, can help them understand the importance of keeping it safe and healthy. Introducing them to solar system facts about the other planets also allows them to compare and contrast them to their home planet.
To bring this knowledge even further to life, our Kindergarteners embarked on an exciting field trip to the Hlohovec observatory. From a simulation of the night sky, mysteries of the moon and the search for life beyond Earth, to the stories that shape our stars, our visit was an amazing experience for our young astronomers.

This month we have been focusing on the theme of nursery rhymes and poems. One of the most popular is Humpty Dumpty. This time the egg didn´t fall off the wall like normally read in the poem but was used for a science experiment. Children observe the dissolution of eggshells, which represented our teeth, the action of various types of liquids. It was a fantastic way to learn about dental health and how certain foods and drinks can impact our teeth and how it is important to often brush our teeth so that we keep them from getting damaged. The conclusion of our observation is that, the vinegar totally destroyed the egg, the juice caused cracks and got some juice inside, soda discolored the, "Tooth," and led to some slight cracking but the egg in the water stayed the same.

Children in the 4-5 y.o started to work with word families. Our goal is to build a strong foundation for future reading success. By exploring word families, children begin to recognize patterns in words, which supports phonemic awareness and early decoding skills. It helps preschoolers understand that words are made up of sounds and that similar sounds often appear in related words. Using engaging activities such as rhyming and word families mini books, children become familiar with common word endings like -at, -ad, and -ap. The overall goal is to make reading fun and approachable while developing essential early literacy skills. The children show great enthusiasm while reading the word families mini books and are able to recognize and read simple rhyming words with growing confidence. This activity supports their early literacy development and helps them connect sounds with printed words in a fun and meaningful way.

Nature constantly shows us its wonders, and recently we were able to see one at our kindergarten. Let’s start with a riddle – it has many short legs, it is always hungry, and it transforms into something that has wings and is graceful. Yes, it’s a butterfly!
We watched this amazing transformation with the children at kindergarten when caterpillars arrived at our preschool. We hadn’t seen the earlier stage – the eggs – but during our study of the life cycle, we learned about them. Then we noticed that the caterpillars moved to the top of the box, and soon they were hanging upside down from the edge in their chrysalises.
That’s when the incredible transformation began, when the animal’s body changes so fundamentally – in the animal kingdom, we are used to the young looking like their parents. After the weekend, we came back and waited for the butterflies to emerge. We had to feed them – we made sugar water or gave them pieces of fruit.
One sunny day, we said goodbye to them and sent them out into the world. Have a happy flight and we wish you lots of sweet flowers! You have taught us so much.
